FAR Overview

The Foundation for Amateur Radio, Inc. (FAR) is a coalition of organizations in the Washington, DC region. FAR provides support to the amateur radio community for education, as well as technical and advisory guidance.

Scholarships

The FAR Scholarship Committee is responsible for the administration of 48 amateur radio-related scholarships that are sponsored by individuals and Amateur Radio clubs from across the nation. This is the largest such program related to amateur radio in the country. The FAR scholarship application process is open to all licensed Amateur Radio operators worldwide. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $5,000. The 2012-2013 scholarship application is currently available.

Member Organizations

The Foundation for Amateur Radio, Inc. (FAR) is composed of approximately 50 member organizations in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Meetings

The Foundation’s general meetings are quarterly: on the second Wednesday of March, June, September, and December, at 8:00 PM. Meetings are held at the Prince George’s County Cranford Graves Fire Service Building, 6820 Webster Street, Landover Hills, Maryland.
