

The Foundation for Amateur Radio (FAR) is composed of approximately 50 member organizations in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The Foundation provides support to the amateur radio community for education, and technical and advisory guidance. Each year, FAR administers over 60 amateur radio-related scholarships in one of the largest such programs in the country. The Foundation also sponsors F.A.R.Fest, one of the largest amateur radio festivals (hamfest) on the East Coast.Maryland and Pennsylvania | Virginia and West Virginia | Washington, D.C.

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for the administration of over 70 amateur radio-related scholarships that are sponsored by 28 clubs and individuals from across the nation. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500.
F.A.R.FestIn the past, the Foundation sponsored a hamfest, every year, known as F.A.R.Fest.
September 30, 2001, was the last year for F.A.R.Fest as it has been known. In 2002, the Foundation is partnering with the Columbia Amateur Radio Association to present Fall-Fest on Saturday and Sunday, September 7 - 8, 2002 at the Howard County Fairgrounds.
